    Hello,

    My name is Lauren and I am the owner and creator of Hide Leather. 

    I live in rural South Australia with my fiance (would be husband by now - thanks covid!!) and our little son, we were so blessed to become parents in 2021! 

    I absolutely love living in the country and am lucky enough to have my workshop on our farm near Penola.  I am a lover of my little family, cooking (and eating!), animals, the outdoors and everything in between!

    I love the process of carefully sketching my designs, then handcrafting each and every Hide Leather piece, ready for its new life. I design my styles with practicality, functionality and slow style in mind.

    My passion began in 2006 when I was introduced to the art of leatherwork by a wonderful school teacher. Hide Leather began in 2014 after years of learning techniques and fine tuning my designs.

    THE LEATHER

    I use only the best quality authentic Australian full-grain leather for every piece I create, this leather is full of character, natural markings and beauty.  Unlike ‘top grain leather’ and ‘genuine leather’, full grain leather has not had any layers removed, and is free from artificial coatings.

    This allows it to grow increasingly supple and develop a beautiful patina with age and use.

    All of the leather that I use is ethically sourced in Australia as a by-product of the meat industry and sourced from high animal welfare facilities.

    The leather that I use is 100% grown and tanned in Australia by a family owned and run tannery.  This allows me to hand select each hide to ensure the highest quality piece, from start to finish.

     

    THE PACKAGING

    I am passionate about minimising my footprint through life & supporting Australian businesses.  It has been very important to me to source all of my packaging from Australia and for it to all be either biodegradable or recyclable, right down to my packing tape and labels. Each Hide Leather Product comes beautifully wrapped and boxed ready to give as a gift or for a lovely treat for yourself.
