My Vision
My vision for The Tote is to be elegantly understated, allowing the natural beauty of the leather to shine. With just the right balance of handle stitching, hidden seams and gorgeous raw edges to showcase the highest of quality leather.
Your timeless bag that has it all, that is always ready to go when you're bustling out the door, will always work with anything you're wearing & anywhere you're going. Where you sit it is where it will stay, with it's just rigid enough design to hold its own wherever you choose to place it down.
My aim for this bag is to cover all of your bases, from your laptop and water bottle to your bobby pins and pens, spare nappies, clothes and everything in between. Inside you will find a zip pocket for all things that need a secure home, and two slip pockets perfect for your phone, pens and lippy.
Whilst crafting, I get to know each tote and the beautiful natural characteristics. I often find myself excitedly wondering who the piece will find its way to, the places it will go and the adventures it will see!
The Tote
Exquisite full grain leather is used for every Hide Leather piece. This is the highest quality, strongest and most durable leather available, using hides in their full and original state, beautifully unique with all natural markings and layers intact.
I hand select the leather for each and every tote to ensure you will have an heirloom to be passed down through the ages. All of our leather is Australian, tanned in Australia by a beautiful family owned and run business, this is a very special aspect to me.
The Care
Each piece is pre-conditioned, but over time I recommend re-applying a natural conditioner to keep your leather soft and supple. It is a good idea to test in a hidden area first before using a new leather care product as some will change the colour/shade of the leather. As leather is a skin, it can mark if scratched or scraped, a damp cloth will help to rub out any marks. Although rare, some colour transfer of darker colour leathers can happen onto lighter colour clothes while your piece in new, this is not common but do keep in mind while you're first wearing in your product.
Hand crafting does take time, but with that comes tradition, unique style and my commitment to each and every piece, creating quality for you to enjoy, that will only get better with age.
The Packaging
I am passionate about minimising my footprint through life & supporting Australian businesses. It has been very important to me to source all of my packaging from Australia and for it to all be either biodegradable or recyclable, right down to my packing tape and labels. Each Hide Leather Product comes beautifully wrapped and boxed ready to give as a gift or for a lovely treat for yourself.
